Charlie Kwenta - Smile, Crooked Spine Records, CH -


Charlie Kwenta is from Lausanne Switzerland, he currently lives in Bangkok, Thailand. After he started mixing in 2000 he Quickly got his first gigs in the south of France where he was residing at the time.

He later came back to Switzerland where he teamed up with DJ/producer Bob Foxx and Crooked Spine Records, the brainchild of Foxx was born. CS records was soon putting on their own parties which has earned him a solid fan base in the local scene as well as a reputation for mixes that are long and creative . You will know when he is on the decks because of his unique style, and his interactions with the crowd.

Charlie started out playing straight techno, being influenced by artists such as Carl Cox, Sven Vath and Jeff Mills. He has since branched out to include Minimal techno, electro and deep house to his arsenal which he likes to blend into his mixes. “I love electronic music and it’s different variations; but I find that individual styles such as minimal/tech/electro can be boring on their own. This is why I like to use a bit of this and that in order to give a direction to my set.”

Since he began playing out in France Charlie kwenta is now a proud member of the Crooked Spine Records Dj crew and has been mixing in various countries and and venues…Colorado, New York , London, Ibiza, Tokyo,Hong Kong. He is now based out of Bangkok where you can find him throwing down sets in some of the best clubs in the city.

He working in Bangkok-based boutique music agency with a strong focus on music programming, promotions and event management. He aim to bring the most cutting edge & established electronic music artists, and connect them with audiences in Thailand.

He run nightlife brands Some Like It Deep; the former an Techno and Underground music, and the latter a series of pop-up parties taking place at unexpected spaces and venues.

has been tearing up dance clubs and festivals across Thailand since 2005. His incredible performances are packed full of energy that not many DJ's can match and includes a broad genre of electronic dance music including Underground Bassline, Electro Techno, Deep House and hippie tech

His non stop energy and positive attitude on stage, inventful showmanship and outstanding ability to mix different genre's of electronic music has given Nakara a respectful name and enormous fan fair across Thailand and abroad. Anyone who has been fortunate enough to see him play have always show great gratitude to his skill and enthasiasm, usually by buying him a drink and a big hug.

Over the years Nakara has enjoyed an illustrious career in Thailand being the resident DJ at the Tree House on Koh Chang, Naga Bar on Koh Samet, 9 Bar on the famous Khaosan Rd. in Bangkok, Club Culture in Bangkok, T.H.C. Rooftop Bar in Chiang Mai and now resides at Babylon Bar in Chiang Mai and Boom Bar ( Pai )

In 2009 Nakara competed at the Pioneer DJ Northside Contest in Chiang Mai where he was awarded 3rd place for best DJ in Northern Thailand. This prestigeous award gave him the confidence to continue pursuing his dream of mixing and producing his own style of electronic dance music.

Nakara has since played at most of Northern Thailands biggest dance festivals including Chiang Mai's Smile Party Music Festival from 2010 - 2014, Dope Party by Delicate Lab CNX, CMBC Drum & Bass Party CNX and Songkran Festival CNX and Jai thap festivel CNX and Electronic valley ( Pai ) and Boomland ( pai ) Nakara has been a musician and DJ for most of his life and has recently begun producing his own unique style of underground electronic music taking influence from the varied genres that he is so renowned for mixing. Needless to say his own creations are deep, dark and thumping pieces of electronic art that will take your mind and body on an ecstatic journey like no other.
