แนวทางการพัฒนาเมือง ย่านที่อยู่อาศัยและธุรกิจในปัจจุบันให้ความสำคัญกับการจัดสรรพื้นที่สาธารณะ และการใช้พื้นที่สาธารณะเพื่อให้เกิดประโยชน์ตั้งแต่การเป็นพื้นที่จัดกิจกรรมสันทนาการ การส่งเสริมการรวมกลุ่มและร่วมมือภายในพื้นที่ จนถึงการสร้างโอกาสทางธุรกิจด้วยการกระตุ้นให้มีนักท่องเที่ยว หรือมีผู้คนสัญจรมาย่านมากขึ้น ดังเช่นกรณีของการพัฒนาย่านเจริญกรุงสู่ย่านสร้างสรรค์ที่ศูนย์สร้างสรรค์การออกแบบ (TCDC) ได้ย้ายสถานที่ตั้งมาเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของพื้นที่สาธารณะเพื่อการเรียนรู้ การบ่มเพาะธุรกิจ ตลอดจนการกระตุ้นให้เกิดกิจกรรมเพื่อสร้างการรับรู้ควบคู่ไปกับการพัฒนาคุณภาพชีวิตในย่านเจริญกรุง เช่น โครงการพัฒนาป้ายรถเมล์ ป้ายสัญลักษณ์เส้นทาง การใช้พื้นที่ในอาคารที่ไม่ได้ใช้ประโยชน์ และการจัดเทศกาลออกแบบกรุงเทพฯ ในเดือนมกราคม 2561 ที่ผ่านมา

โครงการ “ Community Furniture เจริญกรุง” จึงเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของการพัฒนาย่านเจริญกรุง โดยเปิดโอกาสให้นักสร้างสรรค์ นักออกแบบในทุกระดับ ได้เข้าร่วมประกวดผลงานการออกแบบเฟอร์นิเจอร์สาธารณะ ( Street Furniture) สำหรับจัดวางในย่านตลาดน้อย ถนนเจริญกรุง โดยมุ่งเน้นที่จะให้เกิดการใช้งานได้จริงในพื้นที่ โดย TCDCได้ร่วมมือกับบริษัท VIVI Decorative ผู้ผลิตเฟอร์นิเจอร์ภายใต้แบรนด์ VIVI ในการนำผลงานที่ชนะการประกวดไปผลิตเป็นเฟอร์นิเจอร์สำหรับจัดวางในย่านเจริญกรุงเพื่อให้เกิดการต่อยอดความคิดสร้างสรรค์ และเป็นการพัฒนาอุตสาหกรรมการออกแบบของประเทศไทยให้ก้าวหน้าต่อไป

ข้อกำหนดและเงื่อนไขต่างๆของโครงการฯ
คุณสมบัติของผู้สมัครเข้าร่วมโครงการ:
1. เป็นนักออกแบบมืออาชีพ นักศึกษา และประชาชนทั่วไป ที่มีสัญชาติไทยหรือมีถิ่นพำนักอยู่ในประเทศไทย
2. ไม่จำกัดอายุ
3. ต้องสามารถดำเนินการครอบคลุมกระบวนการออกแบบครบทุกขั้นตอน ซึ่งประกอบไปด้วย
– การนำเสนอแนวคิด (Design concept)
– การพัฒนาแบบ (Design development)
– การเขียนแบบทางเทคนิคเพื่อการผลิต (Technical drawing)
– การสร้างผลิตภัณฑ์ต้นแบบ (Prototype)

กติกาการประกวด
ข้อกำหนดการส่งผลงาน:
1. การนำเสนอชิ้นงาน ส่งที่เคาน์เตอร์ประชาสัมพันธ์ TCDC อาคารไปรษณีย์กลาง ถนนเจริญกรุง ภายในวันที่ 31 ตุลาคม 2561
– กระดาษขนาด A3 ไม่เกิน 5 แผ่น พร้อมติดชื่อผู้นำเสนอและชื่อผลงานที่ด้านหลังแผ่นแสดงงานทุกแผ่น
– แบบจำลองขนาด 1:5
2. รายละเอียดที่ต้องแสดง ประกอบด้วย
– การค้นคว้าข้อมูล
– แนวคิดการแก้ปัญหา (Conceptual idea)
– ภาพร่างงานออกแบบที่แสดงถึงแนวคิดที่ต้องการนำเสนอ (Sketch Conceptual Design)
3. ใบสมัครผู้เข้าร่วมประกวดในโครงการ
4. ผู้สมัครสามารถส่งผลงานออกแบบได้ไม่เกิน 3 ชิ้น โดยจะพิจารณาเพียงผลงานที่ได้รับคะแนนสูงสุดเท่านั้น
5. ผู้สมัครที่ผลงานผ่านเข้ารอบสุดท้ายทั้ง 5 ผลงาน จะต้องจัดทำต้นแบบ (Prototype) ขนาด 1:1 ส่งที่เคาน์เตอร์ประชาสัมพันธ์ TCDC อาคารไปรษณีย์กลาง ถนนเจริญกรุง ภายในวันที่ 4 มกราคม 2562
6. แบบจำลอง (Model) ขนาด 1:1 ทั้ง 5 ชิ้น จะถูกนำไปจัดวางในพื้นที่ย่าน เพื่อให้ชุมชนในพื้นที่มีส่วนร่วมในการคัดเลือกผู้ชนะเลิศ
7. กรณีผลงานที่ส่งเข้าประกวด และไม่ได้เข้ารอบ 5 ผลงานสุดท้าย ผู้ส่งผลงานสามารถขอรับคืนได้ภายหลังวันตัดสินการประกวดภายใน 1 เดือน หากผู้ส่งผลงานเข้าประกวดไม่มารับคืนภายในระยะเวลาที่กำหนด จะถือว่าไม่ประสงค์รับคืนผลงานนั้น

การรับสมัคร และจัดส่งผลงานออกแบบ
เปิดรับใบสมัครร่วมกิจกรรมและผลงานระหว่างวันที่ 1 สิงหาคม – 31 ตุลาคม 2561 ผ่าน 2 ช่องทาง ดังนี้
1. สมัครด้วยตนเอง: ดาวน์โหลดใบสมัคร และส่งใบสมัครและผลงานออกแบบในกระดาษ A3 ไม่เกิน 5 แผ่น และแบบจำลองขนาด 1:5 ได้ที่ ส่งที่เคาน์เตอร์ประชาสัมพันธ์ TCDC อาคารไปรษณีย์กลาง ถนนเจริญกรุง 
2. สมัครทางไปรษณีย์: ดาวน์โหลดใบสมัคร และส่งใบสมัครและผลงานออกแบบในกระดาษ A3 ไม่เกิน 5 แผ่น และแบบจำลองขนาด 1:5 มายังที่อยู่

เกณฑ์การพิจารณาผลงาน
1. แนวคิดผลงานสร้างสรรค์และการออกแบบที่แสดงออกถึงความเป็นต้นแบบ (Original)
2. การตอบโจทย์ความต้องการใช้งานในพื้นที่ และสื่อถึงลักษณะของพื้นที่ เช่น การใช้วัสดุในย่าน หรือสะท้อนวัฒนธรรมในย่านที่กำหนด คือ บริเวณย่านตลาดน้อย
3. โอกาสในการผลิตได้จริง และเหมาะสมกับสภาพแวดล้อมในพื้นที่
4. ผู้ส่งผลงานต้องยอมรับในผลการตัดสินชี้ขาดของคณะกรรมการ และให้ถือว่าผลการตัดสินชี้ขาดของกรรมการถือเป็นที่สุด โดยผู้ส่งผลงานไม่สามารถโต้แย้ง หรืออุทธรณ์ใดๆได้

รางวัลและสิทธิประโยชน์ที่จะได้รับ
1.เจ้าของผลงานที่เข้ารอบ 5 ผลงานสุดท้าย จะได้รับการสนับสนุนในการผลิตต้นแบบขนาด 1 :1 (Prototype) เพื่อใช้ในการนำเสนอผลงานในพื้นที่ย่านตลาดน้อยหรือบริเวณใกล้เคียงในระหว่างเทศกาลออกแบบกรุงเทพฯ 2562 เพื่อให้ชุมชนมีส่วนร่วมในการคัดเลือก
2. ผลงานที่ได้รับรางวัลชนะเลิศจากการตัดสินของคณะกรรมการและชุมชนจะได้รับการผลิตจริงและนำไปจัดวางในย่านตลาดน้อย ถนนเจริญกรุง รวมทั้งได้รับการสนับสนุนในการสมัครเข้าร่วมการจัดแสดงผลงานในเทศกาลการออกแบบหรืองานแสดงสินค้า (Trade Fair) ในต่างประเทศ

ความเป็นเจ้าของสิทธิ์ในแบบที่เข้าร่วมประกวด
1. ผู้ที่ได้รับการพิจารณาคัดเลือกให้เข้าร่วมโครงการ อนุญาตทีมงานถ่ายภาพสินค้า กระบวนการผลิต และผู้ผลิต เพื่อใช้ในการประชาสัมพันธ์โครงการฯ รวมทั้งภาพถ่ายทั้งหมดถือเป็นภาพถ่ายของ TCDC และบริษัท VIVI Decorative
2. ผลงานที่ได้รับรางวัลชนะเลิศ ที่ได้รับการสนับสนุนในการผลิตงานต้นแบบและผลิตใช้งานจริง ถือเป็นกรรมสิทธิ์ของนักออกแบบ ร่วมกับ TCDC และ บริษัท VIVI Decorative ซึ่งจะเป็นผู้สนับสนุนการผลิตเพื่อใช้งานจริงในพื้นที่ และเป็นผู้ทำการส่งเสริมการตลาด (marketing /promote) สนับสนุนการจัดแสดง ตลอดการผลิตเพื่อจำหน่าย ซึ่งการนำแบบไปผลิตเพื่อจำหน่ายเชิงพาณิชย์นั้น นักออกแบบจะได้รับค่า Royalty Fee ในอัตราที่ตกลงกับทางบริษัท VIVI Decorative”
3. ในกรณีที่บุคคลภายนอกกล่าวอ้างหรือใช้สิทธิเรียกร้องใด ๆ ว่ามีการละเมิดลิขสิทธิ์สิทธิหรือทรัพย์สินทางปัญญาอื่นใดเกี่ยวกับผลงานที่ส่งเข้าประกวดทุกผลงานผู้ส่งผลงานต้องรับผิดชดใช้ค่าเสียหายต่อบุคคลภายนอกเองและหากกรณีดังกล่าวก่อให้เกิดความเสียหายประการใดแก่ TCDC หรือ ผู้สนับสนุน (VIVI) ผู้ส่งผลงานต้องรับผิดและชดใช้ค่าเสียหายแก่ TCDC หรือ ผู้สนับสนุน (VIVI) โดยสิ้นเชิง

Charoenkrung Community Furniture

Following today’s approach of urban planning, in conjunction with residential and business development strategy, public space management and its physical use has been playing a significant role in the community. While promoting local collaboration and stimulating tourism for emerging business opportunities, public space is served as a recreation space for its residents. Development of Charoenkrung as a creative district, TCDC, with the relocation, is taking part in the ongoing process by providing the public space for learning, business incubation and activities for awareness and quality of life development of Charoenkrung locals. Branching out activities are ranged from bus stop, passenger information system & signage development projects, the use of abandoned building to the Bangkok Design Week 2018.

The project “Charoenkrung Community Furniture” is one of the integrated projects for Charoenkrung development. The project is an opportunity for creatives and designers to participate in Thai street furniture competition. With practicality and accessibility as the key elements, the winning design will be produced for installation at Talad Noi, Charoenkrung road. TCDC in corporation with VIVI Decorative, the furniture manufacturer under the brand “VIVI”, is hand-in-hand in installation of the winning design in Charoenkrung district ultimately aiming at extension of creativity and development of Thai design industry.

Terms and conditions

Qualification
1. The competition is open to designers, students with Thai nationality and non-Thais with Thai residence permit.
2. No maximum age limit
3. Applicant must be able to conduct each of the following design process:
– Design concept
– Design development
– Technical drawing
– Prototype

Rules of Competition

Submission Rules
1. Design submission – Submission must be delivered at the Information Counter, TCDC Bangkok at The Grand Postal Building, within 31 October 2018.
- 5 copies of A3 sketches with applicant’s name and product title marked on the reverse side of each copy.
- 1 of 1:5 model
2. Required information
- 1 researched information
- 1 conceptual idea
- 1 conceptual design sketch
3. A completed application form
4. One applicant is entitled to a maximum of 3 submissions. Only the submission with the highest scores is eligible for the competition.
5. Five of the shortlisted applicants are required to submit a 1:1 model to the Information Counter, TCDC Bangkok at The Grand Postal Building, Charoenkrung road, within 4 January 2019.
6. The entire 5 pieces of a 1:1 model will be installed in the district for community participation in winner selection.
7. Applicants may collect the unawarded submission within 1 month after winner announcement. Should it is uncollected within the time limit, it is regarded as abandoned.

Application and submission open between 1 August – 31 October 2018 in 2 channels as following:

1. Direct submission: The applicant is required to download the application form and submit the application with a maximum of 5 copies of A3 design sketches and 1 of 1:5 model at the Information Counter, TCDC Bangkok at The Grand Postal Building, by 31 October 2018.
2. Postal submission: The applicant is required to download the application form and submit the application with a maximum of 5 copies of A3 design sketches and 1 of 1:5 model to the below address:

Judging Criteria
1. Creativity and originality
2. Functionality and district content – The design must be functional and reflect the characteristic of Talad Noi; from local material to cultural aspect.
3. Feasibility and suitability – The design must be feasible and appropriate for district environment.
4. Applicants must accept the jury’s final decision. The decision of the jury is final and complete. No disputes and/or appeals is accepted.

Prize and Benefit
1. Designers of the 5 finalists is supported for production of a 1:1 prototype for installation at Talad Noi and/or nearby neighbourhood during the Bangkok Design Week 2019 for community participation.

2. Winning design by the decision of the judge and the community is entitled to an actual production for installation at Talad Noi, Charoenkrung road. The winner is eligible for the support to enter international design week/trade fair.

Copyright and Ownership

1. For PR purpose, shortlisted candidates must grant their consent for photography of product, production process and producer. The copyright of the photographs belongs to TCDC and VIVI Decorative.

2. The winning design with the support for prototype and actual production is the property of the designer, TCDC and VIVI Decorative as the main supporter of production for installation at Talad Noi, marketing & promotion, installation and production for commercial purpose. The designer is eligible for a royalty fee as agreed with VIVI Decorative.

3. Should violation and/or infringement of an intellectual property and/or copyright is constituted, the applicant must be responsible for the penalty of such incident. Should the incident caused any damages to TCDC, the applicant must hold the responsibility and pay the penalty to TCDC or the supporter (VIVI).
