>The Best of Old, Middle and New School Punk<

Author and former punk rock musician Jim Algie will be spinning a tribute to the genre’s resilience and enduring influence.

Starting at 9pm, the DJ set will commence with the keystones of punk from 1976, like the Ramones, the Clash, the Sex Pistols and Dead Boys, before taking a sonic time-warp into the roots of the genre, from the Velvet Underground to the Stooges, MC5 and the Sonics.

All the punk-influenced bands from the 1980s and ‘90s, such as the Replacements, the Pogues, the Jesus and Mary Chain, the Cramps, Nirvana and Metallica, will get a fair hearing, along with some of the new school titans like the Strokes and White Stripes, before the grand slam finale of all-time punk classics: “Blitzkrieg Bop,” “Anarchy in the UK,” “Now I Wanna Be Your Dog” and “London Calling,” with some old-school punk movies projected on the wall outside the club.

Jim Algie toured the world with various punk bands for 10 years and worked as a college-radio DJ, before moving to Bangkok to start a writing career. The new and expanded version of his latest book, “On the Night Joey Ramone Died: Tales of Rock and Punk from Bangkok, New York, Cambodia and Norway,” riffs on those experiences.

The new paperback will be on sale at the venue for 500 baht.

Rock up and punk out for a slamming good time!
