This is an introductory course for university students which aims to develop the academic writing skills required to produce articles, essays, reports and dissertations in English. The course will help students to organise their ideas using effective language and an appropriate academic tone. Students will also sharpen their skills in structuring information and linking ideas into a coherent flowing piece.

Course Objectives
The course aims to help students build a foundation upon which to develop their academic writing skills and produce content that is concise, engaging and well-sourced.

Learning Outcomes
At the end of the course students will be able to
-Use appropriate academic language
-Produce effective, logical and coherent text
-Write effective thesis statements and well-developed substantive paragraphs
-Write an essay/op-ed

Course Format
The course combines lecture and discussion, complemented by activities including writing, text analysis and editorial exercises. The workshop also promotes learning through interaction.

Course Schedule
This is an intensive 2 day course that will be conducted from 9.00 am to 4.00 pm.
