Manycuts Artspace I ari proudly presents our latest exhibition memo/ry by Satit Raksasri. The exhibition will be open on view from 12 February 2022 from 12.00 pm - 9 pm. Also we would like to present 'Ari, Distorted', poetry from the outside, a performance by After Art & The Common Sense Poetry Network, in collaboration with page 'Your Neighbour Ari'. The performance will run from 5.00 pm - 8 pm.

An exhibition titled “memo/ry” presents works and its production process by which Satit Raksasri has been working for ten years. Satit is interested in the process of art working starting from observing to retrospecting and collecting artifacts commonly ignored or omitted. It also includes the process of storytelling about the artist himself and about collective experiences shared by people across times, spaces, and important events in Thailand.

In art-working process, Satit concentrates on issues of space, memory, experience, and Thailand’s political events. He focuses on “found objects” in his creating process. One could say that Satit is an observer who watches ongoing phenomena and always pays attention on surrounding tiny things. This observing process is crucial in his art-working production.

Most of the artworks in this exhibition are created from objects collected by Satit. He kept them for longer than a decade. These works represent the artist’s memory as well as collective memories shared by many. For instance, an installation of cement dust collected from the rite of installing People’s Party 2020’s Plaque at Sanam Luang (the Royal Plaza), an installation of objects relating to the 2014 Coup d’état, and objects collected from the military crackdown incidence at Bon Kai district in 2010.

Objects and artifacts used by Satit in his art-working process are transformed from leftovers or trashes into artworks. More importantly, these artworks are witness objects, recorded memory, and testimony. They are not only the artist’s memory, but also are collective memory shared by people across times, spaces, and past events.
