Curated By Vipash Purichanont
on view from 12 May – 12 June 2022
Opening Reception on 12 May 2022, 18:00 – 20:00
A question how human perceives an unadulterated reality has been an unsettling question for religious practitioners, scientists, philosophers, thinkers, and artists alike. Kamin Lertchaiprasert is an artist who spent decades in his career pursuing answer to that very question through artistic practice. He stated that reality is not physical appearances perceived by our sensory organs; and there is also limitation in encountering reality through emotion. The artist has developed an approach which he called “Pure Perception.” He pointed out that we may be able to perceive reality through a stage of mind that contains loving-kindness and being without expectation. Artistic practice is a means in which he used to collect these moments, which he encountered reality through this state of mind.
“Pure Perception? (Her)” is the second part of a four-exhibition series that makes “Pure Perception?” project. It exhibits 20 of 100 artworks that Kamin has been making between 2019-2020. The exhibition brings the audience into the artist’s intimate circle by reviving his inner experience and his interaction with colleagues, comrade, community, and family members. It also revolves around a consideration of environmental issues and mother earth.
The exhibition is curated by Vipash Purichanont. It is on view from 12th May–12th June 2022 at ATTA Gallery between 13:00-18:30 (Closed on Mondays and Tuesdays). The opening reception is on 12th May 2022, 18:00–20:00.
