On the last weekend of November, Thonglor Art Space presents 3 performances by 3 artists from 3 countries curated by Asiatopia’s finest Aor Nopawan, under the project entitled Mourning Moments. The event take place on floor 3rd to 5th of the space simultaneously from 5pm to 9pm, Friday to Sunday. The audience are allowed to explore several performances on each floor while the performances occur concurrently.

Lodged in the 4th floor of Thonglor Art Space from 25th – 27, Aor Nopawan's durational performance art which progresses through the course of 3 days involves audience participation will be taken place, contemplating the mere vulnerability of life and death. The artist believes that life is fragile and uncertainty is wrapped by fear, courage and weakness. We all have our ways to protect vulnerability yet life is still fragile, easily abolished. Nopawan is an artist who often uses her body as a medium and a performance art curator who has been a project manager to a Bangkok-based performance art festival Asiatopia since 2008.

Heaven and Earth and Sun on My Feet

AnGie Seah and a Thousand Horses (Ian Woo, Woo Junhan) is a collective trio combining music, video projection, drawing props and body performance. Comprising of Angie Seah on vocals and multi instruments, Wu Junhan on drums and Ian Woo on bass guitar, inventing pop music with psycho rhythms and celestial sounds, envisioning the borders between daily existence, end times and a new beginning. They are music made by the mountains and seas. Heaven and Earth will be performed on 25th and Sun on My Feet on 26th Angie Seah is a Singaporean artist. Her multidisciplinary practice traverses the mediums of drawing, installation, performance and sound to respond the human condition in relation to the social environment.

Song of Memory

The top floor of the Thonglor Art Space will be occupied by a performance entitled Mourning Moments by Indonesian performer, singer and actor, Arsita Ishwardhani. Mourning Moments closely captures the loss of someone beloved and or highly respected, tracing the values and the ritual process and behavior of funeral and mourning expression in some regions in Indonesia. From those values and ritual behavior that the artist found, she looks for the common thread, and then linked with the mourning process that she has done and felt. Above of all about this funeral and mourning process, there’s questions in me. What’s the function of mourning ritual? Is it personal? What social roles and values do they take part in? This performance is an effort to trace those questions.

อาสิตา มาพร้อมกับร่างกายและแนวคิดที่ต้องการค้นหาความโศกเศร้าและสูญเสียของผู้คน เธอต้องการร่วมรับรู้เรื่องราวความทรงจำของผู้ชมด้วยการใช้คำพูด เสียง หรือแม้กระทั่งภาษากาย และสุดท้ายเธอจะชวนผู้ชมที่ร่วมสนทนาความเศร้ากับเธอทำงานร่วมกันเธอเรียกงานชุดนี้ของตัวเองว่า ‘บทเพลงแห่งความทรงจำ ‘

อ้อ นพวรรณมักถูกรู้จักในฐานะผู้จัดการโครงการศิลปะแสดงสดเอเชียโทเปีย ผลงานของเธอถูกรับเชิญไปแสดงต่างประเทศบ่อยครั้งนับตั้งแต่ปี 2003 ถึงปัจจุบัน ครั้งนี้นับเป็นการนำเสนอผลงานชุดความคิดที่ผ่านการคัดสรรแล้วและถือว่าสมบูรณ์ที่สุดในขณะนี้ของเธอในประเทศไทย ด้วยการทำงานแสดงสดวันละ 4 ชั่วโมงในเรื่องราวที่เชื่อมร้อยต่อเนื่องบอกเล่าถึงความเปราะบางของชีวิต โดยเธอผสานความคิดและชุดการทำงานที่ผ่านมาเป็นผลงานชิ้นใหม่ ล่าสุดนพวรรณได้รับเชิญให้เดินทางไปเสนอผลงานยังประเทศเมกซิโกโปแลนด์และยูเครนในปี2017นี้.
