Darling Agenda: That Idol In A Box

A performance by Tora Kim

Tora Kim deconstructs the journey of a veteran warrior trapped inside a kaleidoscope. The multimedia performance combines exorcism with escape room imperatives within the container of ritual. Kim asks, “How do we reclaim our agency in an unpredictable world where external oppression has long since been internalized?”

Tora Kim is a performance artist, actor, musician and filmmaker born in Seoul, South Korea, raised in New York City. Based in Los Angeles since 2010, Kim has become a nimble cross-pollinator in film, television, theater and art. Trained in Korean opera (p’ansori) and ritual drumming (pungmulnori), Kim uses various modalities of voice, storytelling and bodywork in her live performance to connect to a core sense of pathos and outrage within a formal construct. She has worked with Marina Abramovic, James Franco, Willem Dafoe, Sally Silvers, John Zorn and Sean Lennon, among others.
