Cinema Diverse 2017 มาในธีม The Invisible Hands ซึ่งเราจะพาคนรักหนังทุกท่านไปพูดคุยกับคนทำหนังไทยรุ่นใหม่ฝีมือดีที่อยู่เบื้องหลังงานสร้างชั้นยอดมากมาย ผ่านหนังที่พวกเขาคัดสรรมาฉายเพื่อเปิดบทสนทนาว่าด้วยการทำหนังในแบบที่หาฟังจากไหนไม่ได้อีกแล้ว
สำหรับ The Invisible Hands ครั้งที่ 4 ขอเสนอ "คุยเรื่องการเขียนบท กับ เกรียงไกร วชิรธรรมพร" คนทำหนังและซีรีส์ผู้เป็นทั้งโปรดิวเซอร์ ผู้กำกับ และเขียนบท ผลงานด้านภาพยนตร์เรื่องล่าสุดของเขาคือการร่วมกำกับ-เขียนบท ‘พรจากฟ้า’ และก่อนหน้านั้น เขายังฝากฝีมือการเขียนบทไว้ใน ‘ฮอร์โมนส์ วัยว้าวุ่น’, Project S The Series
หนังที่เกรียงไกรคัดสรรมาเพื่อนำสู่การพูดคุยในครั้งนี้ คือ Compliance (2012) หนังระทึกขวัญสร้างจากเหตุการณ์จริงของคดีเล็กๆ ที่เกิดขึ้นกว่า 70 ครั้งในช่วง 10 ปีทั่วอเมริกา เมื่อชายปริศนาโทรไปตามร้านอาหารฟาสต์ฟู้ดโดยอ้างว่าเป็นตำรวจ ปลายสายกล่าวหาพนักงานในร้านซึ่งโดยมากเป็นหญิงสาว และมักจบลงด้วยเหตุการณ์สะเทือนขวัญ หนังเลือกเล่าเหตุการณ์ในบ่ายวันหนึ่ง เมื่อ ซานดรา ผู้จัดการร้านมากประสบการณ์รับสายโทรศัพท์จากตำรวจว่า เบ็คกี้ สาวน้อยพนักงานขโมยของของลูกค้า ซานดราต้องหาทางจัดการกับปัญหานี้ก่อนที่เรื่องราวจะบานปลาย โดยหารู้ไม่ว่าจากการรับโทรศัพท์ปริศนานั้นได้ขยายผลไปสู่ความรุนแรงในระดับที่สร้างฝันร้ายให้ทุกคนที่ตกเป็นเหยื่อของแผนการณ์นี้ตลอดไป!

CINEMA DIVERSE 2017: THE INVISIBLE HANDS #04
(KRIANGKRAI VACHIRATAMPORN: THE SCREENWRITER)
Bangkok Art and Culture Centre proudly presents “Cinema Diverse 2017: The Invisible Hands”. For the fourth Cinema Diverse, four international films, selected by four acclaimed professionals working in the film industry, will be shown bi-monthly from May – November 2017, followed by a talk after each screening.
The fourth and final screening of Cinema Diverse 2017: The Invisible Hands which will be on 25 November, is a 2012 American thriller film, “Compliance” chosen by Kriangkrai Vachiratamporn, the filmmaker behind the success of many films and TV series. Kriangkrai has worked as a film producer, director and screenwriter. His latest work was co-directing and co-writing, “A Gift”. He is famous for his acclaimed writing works which include all three seasons of “Hormones: The Series’ and “Project S The Series”. After the screening, Kriangkrai Vachiratamporn will give a talk and a Q&A about the script of “Compliance” and his own writing style.
“Compliance” is inspired by true events of a serial phone-prankster sociopath in the US who, for a decade, got away with a bizarre repeated hoax which occurred up to 70 deceptions. The plot focuses on a prank caller who, posing as a police officer convinces the manager of a fast food restaurant to carry out intrusive, unlawful and terrifying procedures on an employee. The film tells a story of one afternoon when Sandra, a manager of a fast food chain, receives a phone call from someone identifying himself as a police officer, that one of her employee, Becky stole something from a customer’s purse which she vehemently denies. Sandra, overwhelmed by her managerial responsibilities, complies with the officer's orders to detain Becky. This choice begins a nightmare that tragically blurs the lines between expedience and prudence, legality and reason.
“This film confirms my belief that any story can be turned into a movie. It’s up to us whether we see a film in it and if we are ready to explore and immerse ourselves in it.”
