เทศกาลภาพยนตร์คัดสรรกลับมาอีกครั้งกับเทศกาลภาพยนตร์คัดสรร Cinema Diverse: Director's Choice2016: The Female Perspective ร่วมชม 4 ภาพยนตร์นานาชาติที่คัดเลือกโดย 5 ผู้กำกับภาพยนตร์หญิงชาวไทย พร้อมพูดคุยภาษาภาพยนตร์กับผู้กำกับทั้ง 5 ภายหลังการฉาย โดยกิจกรรมนี้จะจัดขึ้นทุกสองเดือน ตั้งแต่เดือนพฤษภาคม – พฤศจิกายน พ.ศ. 2559
สำหรับการจัดฉายครั้งแรก ในวันเสาร์ที่ 21 พฤษภาคม 2559 พบกับภาพยนตร์จากประเทศชิลีเรื่อง The Pearl Button (2015) กำกับภาพยนตร์โดย พาทริซิโอ กุซแมน และคัดสรรโดย โสรยา นาคะสุวรรณ ผู้กำกับภาพยนตร์หญิงชาวไทยเจ้าของผลงาน Final Score 365 วัน ตามติดชีวิตเด็กเอ็นท์ และ ราตรีสวัสดิ์
The Pearl Button เป็นภาพยนตร์สารคดีจากประเทศชิลี ได้รับเลือกให้ฉายในสายประกวดหลักของเทศกาลภาพยนตร์เบอร์ลินครั้งที่ 65 และคว้ารางวัล Silver Bear สาขาบทภาพยนตร์ยอดเยี่ยม นอกจากนี้ยังได้รับรางวัลภาพยนตร์สารคดียอดเยี่ยมจาก Lumières Award ครั้งที่ 21 The Pearl Button เป็นหนึ่งในไตรภาค Nostalgia for the Light และเป็นภาพยนตร์เรื่องที่สามของเขาที่ถ่ายทอดเรื่องราวของเทือกเขาแอนดีสในมุมมองเกี่ยวกับความทรงจำและเหตุการณ์ในอดีต โดยเฉพาะอย่างยิ่งเรื่องราวของ "ผู้แพ้" จากการตั้งถิ่นฐานในหมู่เกาะเทียร่า เดล ฟูเอโก้ ผ่านการบอกเล่าของคนในชนเผ่าพื้นเมืองที่ยังหลงเหลืออยู่อย่างอาลากาลูฟและยากัน

Bangkok Art and Culture Centre proudly presents “Cinema Diverse: Director's Choice 2016: The Female Perspective”. For the fourth Cinema Diverse, four international films, selected by five acclaimed female Thai directors, will be shown bi-monthly from May – November 2016.After each screening there will be a post-screening talk and a Q&A session to discuss ideas and thoughts about the film with the directors.
The first screening on Saturday 21 May 2016 is The Pearl Button (Chile / 2015) directed by Patricio Guzmán and chosen by Soraya Nakasuwan, an acclaimed Thai director of Final Score and Rahtree Sawasdi.
The Pearl Button is a 2015 Chilean documentary film. It was screened in the main competition section of the 65th Berlin International Film Festival where it won the Silver Bear for Best Script. It won the Lumières Award for Best Documentary at the 21st Lumières Awards. The film is part of a triptych with Nostalgia for the Light and potentially a third film focusing on the Andes, exploring familiar Guzmán themes such as memory and the historical past, particularly of that of the history's "losers" rather than victors, as it documents the settlement of Chile’s Tierra del Fuego, including some of the last surviving descendants of the original Alacalufeand Yaghan inhabitants.
