Blackout

On the memorable Friday 2 February 2024, River City Bangkok unveiled “Blackout”, a solo exhibition by Munins (Munin Saiprasart) – the nerve weaving writer and remarkably talented artist. In this artistic spectacle, Munins ingeniously transforms emotions, memories, and her extraordinary identity into captivating artworks. The exhibition features an array of her masterpieces, including the largest drawings she has ever crafted, welcoming all at the entrance of the exhibition hall. Munins explores vivid neons in her experimental paintings, a departure from her previous works, alongside an anthology of animated pieces that draw inspiration from her life experiences. Through this series, Munins narrates poignant tales, rich in meaning, where diverse human figures navigate through a spectrum of emotions and contrasting feelings. A peculiar commonality emerges – the donning of ‘socks’ and ‘gloves’, uniting these diverse beings in an oddly enchanting dance of expression. 

In the midst of the profound darkness, Munins strongly believes that amid the shadows of vulnerability, there may, in fact, be other hues for us to discern. All it takes is for us to embrace and acknowledge every emotion that arises within, to touch upon every unfolding story with subsequent understanding. To welcome, to accept, and to exalt it with greater reverence than ever before.
