An artist’s persona reflects in his artistic practice, which mostly depends on his experience from both imaginary and tangible world. The rest that lies in his art is his capability to narrate through the art forms. All that we can see from one’s art is meant to covey an aggregate sensory.

‘The Boundaries of Time’ envisions Wana Wanlayangkoon’s passages and imagination on borders, time, and politics.

He takes us to observe the Thai army’s operation during the wide spread of Covid-19 pandemic. The newspapers report that the soldiers in PPE suits spraying alcohol on rocks and pathways along Thai-Myanmar borders to kill germs. The action reflects the supreme form of hyperreality how a modern state tries to seal its territory from pandemic.

Wana takes the stories of western civilization to illuminate the 1932 Siam revolution and after. His paintings argue that human nature has no borders. Such tales and fables lead us to an inquiry on life of citizen in modern state. The state should lead us to a better society, instead it seems like we are now living in a penal colony. Such mythologies persuade us to contemplate the annihilation of time.
