International Film Festival Signes de Nuit
Signes de Nuit is an Independent Film Festival presenting short-films and documentaries from all around the world. Originally based in Paris, the Festival has screened thousands of films from more than 70 countries and has collaborated with cultural institutions and festivals in 33 countries. In 2013 The festival gets a binational status and is performed in Germany, in the cities of Berlin and Saarbrücken where are presented the international competition of the festival and several side programs. In 2015, International Festival Signes de Nuit in collaboration with Filmvirus launched the festival in Bangkok. This year is the 6th edition.
Signes de Nuit tries to reflect new views, unusual imagery and critical approach to the crucial points of the modern human existence. It is a place for cinema that expands its own boundaries, a cinema that is astonishing, different, potentially free from the pressure of tradition, ready to give itself to the unpredictable experimentation.
The festival programs films and audio-visual works that test new audio-visual languages and that focus on situations and problems that occur in nowadays societies. Signes de Nuit aims at establishing both a global communication, which escapes from the simplifications of the mass media and a transmission based on cultural awareness of differences and nuances of mental and psychical forms of expression and life styles based on social conditions. The films presented at the Festival deal with ongoing technical and cultural transformations in our societies addressing these issues with a complex artistic viewpoint.
