NOVA CONTEMPORARY is pleased to present The Sea Ghost and Beyond, the first solo exhibition with Nova Contemporary by Ploenchan Vinyaratn. Inspired by how discarded fishing nets wreaked havoc on sea life; each piece explores the interlinked relationship between humankind and our environments, with each strand of this ghostly net reaching out further, entangling and strangling Mother Nature. Vinyaratn decided to weave an utopian vision by exploring and incorporating the unwanted such as scraps of waste fabrics and dead-stock yarns, sea waste, as well as non-traditional elements—including hand-spun paper documents and used stockings—to construct a vivid, intricate conglomerate.
