'The Positivity Scrolls'
BY PAIROJ PICHETMETAKUL

#SpecialEvent : Numthong Gallery is delighted to invite you to the Opening Reception and participate in a live painting session by the artist on Saturday 13th January 2018 at 5.00 PM

“The Positivity Scrolls” started in Autumn 2013 when the artist, Pairoj Pichetmetakul, began to draw faces of homeless persons he encountered on the streets of New York City onto large canvas and paper scrolls. Everyday he would roam around the urban streets, sat down to start a conversation with individuals and painted their portraits. The plein-air sessions are parts of his intention to create public art spaces opened for everyone to participate. He wants to help raise attention from passers-by toward the homeless people, beggars, street musicians, shoes-shine workers, veterans, and people who live on the streets so that they may get more donation.
Pairoj detects interesting subjects others may overlook. He attempts to retell stories of individuals he encountered on the streets with hopes that they would be encouraged to carry on; Concurrently, the artist aspires to bring about positivity in people.

“The Positivity Scrolls” will be exhibited from January 13th to February 10th 2018 at Numthong Gallery.
