Inson Wongsam : living legend who was born beyond century

In 1962, His father and Professor Silpa Bhirasri ,the father of Modern Thai Art inspired him to broaden his experiences of Life and Art.

At the age of 28, only 1 week after Prof. Silpa ‘s death ,the young artist had funded from Berli Jucker, the sale agent of Lambretta scooter and Esso (Thailand) for fuel supported, rode his scooter downward through Thailand peninsula. Shipped to Penang and ashored at Calcutta,nomadized through India, Pakistan, Iran, Turkey and then Greece.

He stayed at Corfu Island of Greece for 6 months in 1963 and created Abstract Artwork. After arrived Rome, he rode to birthplace of Prof. Silpa town near Florence. The 18 months journey on his scooter, he showed all his artworks in the galleries on the way from Asia to Europe had not yet ended.

Inson decided to leave his out of condition scooter at the Royal Thai Embassy and follow his path to Vienna, Austria, Zurich, Switzerland and lastly, he continued his design study at Ecole Nationale Superieure des Arts Decoratifs and lived in France for 3 years.

He was granted as a National Artist in Visual Arts ( Sculpture) in 1999 andin the occasion of 60th anniversary of old Lambretta he used to ride throughout his journey from Asia to Florence,Italy he created and designed Lambretta for the memoire of Love and Faith he once had.
