สุดสัปดาห์กับภาพยนตร์ของอภิชาติพงศ์

สมาคมฝรั่งเศสกรุงเทพภูมิใจนำเสนอสุดสัปดาห์แสนพิเศษกับการร่วมชมภาพยนตร์และพูดคุยกับผู้กำกับชื่อดัง อภิชาติพงศ์ วีระเศรษฐกุล

อภิชาติพงศ์ใช้ชีวิตวัยเด็กในจังหวัดขอนแก่น เขาเริ่มทำภาพยนตร์วิดีทัศน์ขนาดเล็กในปี พ.ศ. 2537 และได้สร้างภาพยนตร์ขนาดยาวเรื่องแรกในปี พ.ศ. 2543 ภาพยนตร์ของเขาได้รับการจัดฉายในงานนิทรรศการต่าง ๆ ในหลายประเทศมาตั้งแต่ปี พ.ศ. 2541 ลักษณะงานมักนำเสนอเรื่องผ่านความทรงจำ รวมถึงความลักลั่นของพื้นที่และเวลา ในขณะเดียวกันก็สอดแทรกมุมมองจากประเด็นทางการเมืองและสังคมไปพร้อมกัน ผลงานของอภิชาติพงศ์ได้เป็นที่รู้จักและได้รับรางวัลจากหลากเวที เช่น เทศกาลภาพยนตร์เมืองคานส์

กิจกรรมสุดสัปดาห์กับภาพยนตร์ของอภิชาติพงศ์ประกอบด้วย รายการรวมหนังสั้นที่หาดูได้ยากในประเทศไทย และร่วมพูดคุยประเด็นเรื่องผีและสังคมในงานของผู้กำกับ รวมไปถึงรายการพิเศษ “Echoes of French Cinema” คือ ร่วมชมภาพยนตร์ฝรั่งเศสในดวงใจของอภิชาติพงศ์ (ฉายในโรงภาพยนตร์ของสมาคม) และภาพยนตร์ผลงานของผู้กำกับ (ฉายบนจอนอกอาคารสมาคม)

เรื่องราวลี้ลับและเต็มเป็นด้วยมนตราลอยฟุ้งอยู่ในอากาศรอบตัว เรื่องราวของ “สัตว์ประหลาด” เป็นสองส่วน ส่วนแรกเป็นเรื่องเกี่ยวกับความรักของเกย์สองคน คือ โต้ง ลูกจ้างโรงน้ำแข็ง กับ เก่ง พลทหารหนุ่ม ส่วนหลังเป็นเรื่องราวที่ต่างกันโดยสิ้นเชิง เป็นเรื่องลี้ลับเชิงนิทาน เกี่ยวกับการตามล่าในป่าทึบระหว่างนายพราน กับเสือสมิง ที่เคยกินคน และมีวิญญาณของเหยื่อที่ถูกกินสิงอยู่

Alliance Française Bangkok is thrilled to present a very special weekend in the presence of Director Apichatpong Weerasethakul.

Apichatpong grew up in Khon Kaen in north-eastern Thailand. He began making film and video shorts in 1994, and completed his first feature in 2000. He has also mounted exhibitions and installations in many countries since 1998. Often non-linear, with a strong sense of dislocation, his works deal with memory, subtly addressed personal politics and social issues. His art projects and feature films have won him widespread recognition and numerous festival prizes, including three prizes from the Cannes Film Festival.

The program will consist of two short film compilations selected by the Director, rarely shown in Thailand, a discussion about ghosts, cinema & society, to end with the special program “Echoes of French Cinema”: the indoor screening of a French film chosen by the Director will be followed by the outdoor screening of his own film.

Something magical is in the air. Times are happy and love is uncomplicated for young soldier Keng and country boy Tong. Pleasant evenings with Tong's family, song-filled nights in town... Then life is disrupted by a disappearance. And some kind of wild beast has been slaughtering cows. Local legends say a human can somehow be transformed into another creature... Then begins a tale of a soldier who goes alone into the heart of the jungle, where myth is often real.

L'Alliance Française Bangkok a le plaisir de présenter un week-end très spécial dédié au réalisateur Apichatpong Weerasethakul.

Apichatpong a grandi à Khon Kaen, dans le nord-est de la Thaïlande. Il a commencé à faire des films et des courts métrages en 1994, et a terminé son premier long métrage en 2000. Il a également monté des expositions et des installations dans de nombreux pays depuis 1998. Souvent non linéaire, avec un fort sentiment de dislocation, son travail traite avec subtilité de sujets politiques et des problèmes sociaux. Ses projets artistiques et ses longs métrages lui ont valu une large reconnaissance et de nombreux prix, en particulier la Palme d'Or au Festival de Cannes 2010.

Le programme du "Apichatpong Weekend" consistera en deux compilations de courts-métrages sélectionnés par le réalisateur, rarement diffusés en Thaïlande, une discussion autour des fantômes, du cinéma et de la société thaïlandaise, pour terminer avec le programme spécial "Echoes of French Cinema": la projection en salle d'un film français choisi par le réalisateur, suivie par la projection en plein air de son propre film.

Keng, le jeune soldat, et Tong, le garçon de la campagne mènent une vie douce et agréable. Le temps s'écoule, rythmé par les sorties en ville, les matchs de foot et les soirées chaleureuses dans la famille de Tong. Un jour, alors que les vaches de la région sont égorgées par un animal sauvage, Tong disparaît. Une légende dit qu'un homme peut être transformé en créature sauvage... Keng va se rendre seul au couer de la jungle tropicale où le mythe rejoint souvent la réalité.
