ญาณ (YAAN), a supergroup drawn from various local musicians, searching & experimenting for a new sound created from different acoustic instruments from across the globe. Yaan brings songs to its listeners with no rules. Even the most intricate rhythms and melodies in their songs often give way to open musical communication and improvisation takes the helm. Yaan combines a type of organic music, deeply drenched in cultural heritage and ancient mysticism, with modern day electronics. The use of electronic looping and dub effects brings instruments like the sitar, congas, violin, Thai khan, and 70’s psych guitar to new levels.; locking them into automatic electronic rhythms or breaking them out of their rhythms into a vast ocean of sound.
