[OPEN FOR SUBMISSION] Writer’s Lab: A Play Development Programme #1 by Max Radtai 

edumentia by POEMS DIMENSION, in collaboration with Max Radtai, warmly invites playwrights to join Writer’s Lab: A Play Development Programme #1, a structured and systematic workshop designed for writers aiming to refine and elevate their draft scripts through an intensive 5-session process. This programme prepares your play for a final Stage Reading presentation before a live audience as part of the Week 2 Stage Lab initiative.

Programme Details

• Programme Title: Writer’s Lab: A Play Development Programme by Max Radtai
• Venue: Poems Dimension(Town in Town, BKK)
• Duration: 5 Sessions(5 Days)
• Dates: October 24, 25, and 31 / November 1 and 7, 2026
• Time: 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM (Dates and times are subject to change as appropriate)
• Participants: 12 Writers (Selected via Open Submission)
• Fee: 6,900 THB / Person (Including VAT 7%). Refreshments and beverages provided
• Final Presentation: Stage Reading (Presented under the Week 2 Stage Lab project)
• Participants who complete the programme will be awarded an official Certificate of Completion from POEMS DIMENSION.

Lab's Structure

• Session #1: What is Contemporary Drama?: Analyze core elements and contemporary issues in scriptwriting, featuring practical drafting and revision exercises.
• Session #2: The Power of Narrative Structure: Explore structure formats (Three-act, Five-act, Non-linear) to guide the audience's emotional journey and information layout.
• Session #3: Crafting Dynamic Dialogues: Master dialogue techniques, subtexts, silences, and stage directions that actively propel the plot forward.
• Session #4: Open Dramaturgy Lab: Present script drafts and exchange constructive feedback with peers and a professional Dramaturg to build analytical tools.
• Session #5: Working with Actors & Directors: Bring scripts into rehearsal with professional actors and directors to observe performance and prepare for Stage Reading.

Submission & Application Guidelines

1. Playwrights seeking to develop an existing script are invited to submit one (1) script draft. We recommend submitting a script that has undergone initial development to fully benefit from the Feedback & Revision process.

3. Mandatory Requirement: Please explicitly state “For consideration in a Play Development Programme #1 only” on the title page or header of your submitted script document.

Instructor Bio 

About the Instructor: Max Radtai (Radtai Lokutarapol)

Max Radtai is a playwright, dramaturg, and educator specializing in contemporary drama and new writing. He currently serves as an Adjunct Lecturer at Bangkok University and Silpakorn University, and works as a Literary Advisor for POEMS DIMENSION.

• BA in Performing Arts: Chulalongkorn University, Thailand

Selected Works & International Experience

• Playwright, Director, & Producer of A Cigarette Butt Named Life: Staged at the Cockpit Theatre (London) and POEMS DIMENSION. The play led to his selection as a Thai delegate for the Asian Playwrights Meeting 2026 in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.
• Interdisciplinary Performance Creator: Developed and presented works for ICA Creatives at the Institute of Contemporary Arts (ICA), London, and Reference Point 180, London.
• Professional Affiliations: Member of Dramaturgs' Network UK and ICA Creatives.
