A monthly cultural studies session hosted by university lecturer and author Viriya Sawangchot. This session is a drama-documentary following a day in the life of musician, poet, artist, Nick Cave, offering his candid insights into the creative process.
Screening starts at 8pm and will be followed by a casual discussion.
20,000 DAYS ON EARTH
A documentary, musical, drama depicting 24 hours in the life of Australian musician, poet, model, songwriter, author, screenwriter, composer and actor Nick Cave. The film is an intimate portrait of the artistic process, celebrating the transformative power of the creative spirit. This film was co-written and directed by Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard, British visual artists. They have worked together since the mid-nineties. 20,000 Days on Earth is their first feature film. 20,000 Days on Earth won 2 awards, Directing Award and Editing Award, from World Cinema Documentary, Sundance Film Festival in 2014.
VIRIYA SAWANGCHOT
A cultural researcher based in Bangkok, Thailand. He was an API senior fellow (2013-2014), Asian Public Intellectual program, Nippon Foundation, and has previously taught in Cultural Studies program, Research Institute for Languages and Cultures of Asia, Mahidol University, Thailand.
