จากความคุ้นเคยในการแบ่งประเภทตัวอักษร (Type Classification) เป็นแบบมีเชิง (Serif) และไม่มีเชิง (Sans Serif) ในปัจจุบันมีวิธีการแบ่งประเภทหลากหลายรูปแบบที่ซับซ้อนมากขึ้น และในวันนี้ที่การใช้ตัวอักษรบนหน้าจอมือถือหรือแท็บเล็ต ตัวอักษรประเภทไหนที่จะตอบโจทย์การใช้งานและสื่อสารให้ผู้อ่านเข้าใจได้อย่างรวดเร็ว
