Computers and digital system are now used as industrial tools in every sector, which accelerates the printing process and increases its volume. Printing by hand is inconsistent and comes with lots of limitation. Yet it leaves beautiful imperfection created by the human hands. This represents meticulous and painstaking steps required in shaping an original art prints such as Etching, Woodcut, Lithograph and Silk Screen, which allow artists to express themselves. In this way, these forms of art are also known as pure art.
Now printmaking art is known throughout the world but despite its reputation, printmaking is very new to the art world in Thailand. In other words, not much of printmaking art is learned in a deeper level. However, this benefits the future generation of printmaking artists emerging in Thailand’s printing industry, which just breaks new ground. This causes these new artists to come up with their own identities, which is a breath of fresh air and in recent years, their works have won many international awards.
Not only is Kalwit Studio & Gallery a central of art exhibition in Bangkok, but it also makes room for the Chirachaisakul’s series of printmaking art. Their works include Etching, Woodcut and discussion on printmaking techniques with those who are interested and other fellow artists.
“PARP-PIM 2 Bangkok Printmaking Exhibition 2017” is where prints by over 20 local and foreign artists are displayed in one place. They have expressed their creative mind and poured their heart and soul into these prints. This event is coming back for the second time after its premiere in 2015

เมื่อคอมพิวเตอร์ และระบบดิจิตอลได้ถูกนำมาเป็นเครื่องมือในงานอุตสาหกรรมทุกแขนง ส่งผลให้การผลิตสิ่งพิมพ์สามารถผลิตได้อย่างรวดเร็วและไม่จำกัด ส่วนการพิมพ์ด้วยมือที่ไม่เสถียร มีขีดจำกัดกว่ามาก ที่ยังคงหลงเหลือเสน่ห์ที่ทิ้งให้เห็นถึงความเป็นงานช่างจากฝีมือมนุษย์ซึ่งแสดงออกความละเอียดอ่อนและความประณีตในแต่ละขั้นตอนเพื่อสร้างสรรค์งานภาพพิมพ์ที่มีเอกลักษณ์เฉพาะของตัวเอง เช่น พิมพ์โลหะ(Etching) พิมพ์แกะไม้(Woodcut) พิมพ์หิน (Lithograph) และ พิมพ์ตะแกรงไหม(Silk Screen) จึงตกเป็นเครื่องมืออีกแขนงหนึ่งให้ศิลปินสร้างสรรค์ผลงานและถูกยกขึ้นเป็นศิลปะบริสุทธิ์
ปัจจุบันศิลปะภาพพิมพ์เป็นที่นิยมอย่างแพร่หลายทั่วโลก แต่กระนั้นแล้วภาพพิมพ์ยังคงเป็นเทคนิคที่วงการศิลปะในไทยเพิ่งเริ่มรู้จักอย่างครบถ้วนและลึกซึ้งได้ไม่นาน แต่กลับเป็นผลดีต่อศิลปินภาพพิมพ์รุ่นใหม่ที่เติบโตอยู่ในยุคสมัยที่วงการภาพพิมพ์ในไทยกำลังเบ่งบานไปด้วย เนื่องจากวงการภาพพิมพ์ในไทยที่ยังมีอายุไม่ยาวนาน ส่งผลให้เหล่าศิลปินต้องสร้างอัตลักษณ์ของยุคสมัยขึ้นเอง ทำให้ผลงานมีกลิ่นไอที่แตกต่าง และยังได้รับการยอมรับจากรางวัลระดับนานาชาติ มากขึ้นเรื่อยๆในรอบไม่กี่ปีมานี้
คาฬวิท สตูดิโอ แอนด์แกลเลอรี่ นอกจะเป็นพื้นที่แสดงงานศิลปะที่ตั้งอยู่ใจกลางเมืองแล้ว ยังมีพื้นที่สตูดิโอสำหรับผลิตงานภาพพิมพ์ของครอบครัวศิลปิน จิรชัยสกุล มีการสร้างสรรค์งานภาพพิมพ์โลหะ(Etching) และ ภาพพิมพ์แกะไม้ (Woodcut) และแลกเปลี่ยนความรู้ทางเทคนิคภาพพิมพ์ต่อผู้ที่สนใจภาพพิมพ์และเพื่อนศิลปินทั้งในกรุงเทพและต่างชาติอยู่เสมอ
นิทรรศการ PARP-PIM 2 Bangkok Printmaking Exhibition 2017 จึงเป็นโอกาสที่จะรวบรวมผลงานคุณภาพจากศิลปินภาพพิมพ์ทั้งศิลปินไทยและต่างประเทศ มากกว่า 20 ท่าน ร่วมถ่ายทอดความคิดที่หลากหลายลงบนแม่พิมพ์ และประทับอารมณ์ความรู้สึกลงสู่ผลงาน มาจัดแสดงเป็นครั้งที่2 หลังจากที่เคยจัดแสดงนิทรรศการ PARP-PIM Mini Prints Project เมื่อปี2015 มาแล้ว
