Thai illustrator Wattanapon Kitburin pays homage to the symbiosis of all living things in a debut solo exhibition, “Wild Spirit,” at La Lanta Fine Art that runs from now until Apr. 22.
Nature is capable of allowing humans, animals and plants to co-exist and sustain their own livelihoods. However, this equilibrium suffers as humans take advantage of nature without paying enough consideration to the consequences.
Wattanapon’s artwork combines images that suggest nature’s grace, with visual cues that reference decay and deterioration. In choosing wood as his base material, the artist captures intrinsic beauty in a natural form. Wattanapon displays a high command of realistic figurative painting, using watercolour and acrylic to achieve his delicate depictions of the animals.
