Maggie Choos's presents the seventh instalment in its every popular Singer Songwriters Night. This month features hot young local up-and-coming Thai rock stars Penny Time, international songwriting phenomenon SYPS and Thai sweetheart Jeans from popular pop act Hers. Hosted by folk punk John Will Sail and blasting of the best Thursday night vibes for original live music in the city, this event is sure to be another smash.

Penny Time
One of Bangkok's best up-and-coming bands makes its Maggie Choo's debut. Featuring two artists from BK Magazines top Thai bands to watch in 2018 Daniel Didyasarin (City Plant) and Gong Prachumchonjaron (Happy 3 Friends) this young four piece is set to blast off the stage. In a scene where 'shoe gaze' and limited stage energy is the thing, Penny Time present a real stage show and will no doubt impress the Maggie Choo's audience.

SYPS
SYPS (AKA Alex Sypsomos) is a Bangkok based singer/songwriter/producer born in the USA, with family roots from England and Greece. Over the past year, he has been writing and recording not only for himself, but for numerous artists in London, Berlin, Amsterdam, Tokyo and LA- along with a few Thai superstars, including uber-famous singer and The Voice judge, Da Endorphine.

Having gained exposure and success from his last single "Four Walls", 2018 looks to be an extremely promising year for SYPS with an EP release in March and continued releases throughout the year.

With a combination of soulful vocals, storytelling charm and unforgettable hooks, this is a show you don't want to miss.

John Will Sail

John Will Sail is a passionate singer/songwriter who has refined his craft as a full time paying 'passion project' for the past year. Music has taken him all over Asia, formerly playing in successful metal/hardcore/rock outfits, John Will Sail has established himself as one of Bangkok's premiere solo performers.

Labeled by Big Chilli magazine as 'one of the hottest new acts on the circuit' he is a forefront artist of indie label Other Road Records and helped build an avid international folk scene, building bridges across nations and between like minded artists.

With shows/tours through Vietnam, Malaysia, Cambodia, Singapore, Myanmar, China, Indonesia, Australia and South Africa, Sail is making his mark on the international folk community. After great local response to his 2015 album The City Sea, work has begun on his sophomore album and more touring in 2018

Known mainly from Thai folk pop act Hers, Jeans is steadily carving a name for herself in the singer/songwriter community. With a strong voice and a boisterous guitar strumming style, Jeans is a young up-and-coming performer set to take on the live scene. On this evening, she will perform as a duo.

Maggie Choo's is named after a Shanghai cabaret owner who fled her hometown in 1931 following the Japanese invasion that tore the city apart. Shortly after arriving in Bangkok, she opened a Thai-Chinese shoe box restaurant crammed into a basement ten meters below Silom road serving authentic Thai Chinese shop-house food. When one day, she discovered behind the wall in the corner of the restaurant an entrance that lead to a derelict 19th century East India company bank built in 1847 used for storing porcelain and spices that the British used to carry back to England for Queen Victoria, her past caught up with her and she converted the old bank into a cabaret, just like when she used to host back in her beloved Shanghai.
