This month we are visiting a natural gas-fired power plant owned and operated by Gulf Power Generation Co. Ltd, an independent power producer. Located in Saraburi province, the gas-fired power plant can generate up to 1,200 megawatts. It is fuelled by natural gas but can burn diesel as a back-up.

The company was founded in 1996 and is based in Kaeng Khoi, Thailand. Gulf Power operates as a subsidiary of Gulf Electric PCL. The plant began operating in May 2007. Its main client is the Electric Generating Authority of Thailand.
