Course Description:

This course is an introduction to the interdisciplinary and emerging field of data science. The course will introduce the concept of Data Science especially in the Big Data era. The students will learn the process of data science, which starting from data understanding, data preparations, data engineering, predictive analytics and data visualization. The course covers a range of Hadoop technologies, machine learning techniques in large scale manner, model evaluation and deployment. In addition, Machine Learning tools such as Spark MLlib and Google Cloud Platform will be covered in this course.

Prerequisite

• Strong interested in Data Science, Basic knowledge of computer programming and statistics.
• Familiarity with Hadoop  and knowledge of Python (recommended not mandatory).

• Hands-on: Jupyter for Data Science.

Day 2

• Basic Programming using Spark Core and Spark SQL.
• Basic Programming using Spark MLlib and ML pipeline.
• Hands-on: Python and Spark for Classification.
• Hands-on: Python and Spark for Clustering.

Day 3

• Data Science with Jupyter on Google Dataproc/ Google Datalab.
• Hands-on: Prediction of Loan Payment.
• Hands-on: Clustering of Network Interaction.
