SERIES 1: LIMINALITY MEETS COLOR
In my most recent body of work, I have produced sixteen mandala paintings (30 x 30 cm). The paintings are made of many meticulous dots, some magically dripping on the edges. The process serves as a mindfulness painting practice, which is engaged through focused concentration.

I am generally a very enthusiastic and quirky individual, bouncing from one concept to the next. The process of painting dot mandalas quiets and stills my over-active brain. I am fully present in the moment, feeling a cognitive and emotional release during the process. The focused intention on my body gives my mind a space to be. I achieve a liminal state, a pause or space in between. I let go of my psyche resulting in peace and relaxation. In this calm state, I have the ability to control my own emotions, behaviors, and actions. I feel a connection to my interior and exterior world: the self and the harmonic cosmological world. After the process, I take a step back, gaining new perspectives and new ways of perceiving existence. The result of the process is a sense of self-awareness, confidence, and acceptance.

I created four sets of paintings, each set with its own color palette. [Set 1: Blue & Purple, Set 2: Earth Tones, Set 3: Warm, and Set 4: The Blues.] Each set features a specific color palette interpreted in several ways. I select my color palette by visualizing and testing out which colors look the most aesthetically pleasing next to each other. Set 1: Blue & Purple, is inspired by the sky and water and the sense of coolness they bring. Set 2: Earth Tones, is inspired by a connection to mother earth, the natural world that surrounds human beings and the feeling of safety and protection that arise when within nature. Set 3: Warm, is inspired by fire and heat, and the stimulation and warmth they provide. Set 4: The Blues, is inspired by the ability of colors to evoke a soothing mood. My intention is to create positivity and pleasure through the juxtaposition of energetic and calming color combinations. I am interested in how the selected color combinations can affect sensory and psychological perceptions. I hope that the colorful dots encourage viewers to pause and mesmerize, and enchant their minds and bodies.

SERIES 2: COLORFUL BALANCE
In this particular body of work, I have produced ten large format paintings. My subject matter comprises mandala, portraiture, and dancer paintings. These images are inspired by the vibrant city of Bangkok: its golden temples, hot pink taxis, lime green motorcycles, cyan blue malls, and magenta apartments. I am passionate about how vivacious colors, mark-making, and patterns can inform positive characteristics of human beings.

I am interested in mandalas because of their balance and symmetry. My purpose of painting center points and concentric layers within a mandala structure is to guide a balanced lifestyle. I have many ideas, thoughts and emotions that simultaneously occur in a single moment. The mandala helps me organize and focus, bringing me back to a central reference point. My goal of applying mandalas within portraiture is to embody balance within the individual. I hope to inspire viewers to reflect and explore aspects of cognitive, emotional and spiritual balance in their own lives by being present in the moment. I also hope to inspire energy, pleasure, peace, relaxation and happiness through my work.
