We are delighted to present another concert by the Orchestra for Myanmar and the New Children's Choir, this time joined by five soloists from Malaysia and Taiwan and The Strand Singers. Leading proceedings will be presenter extraordinaire Susana Galvan, and conducting will be Saw James Hsar Doe Soe and Sebastian See-Schierenberg.
This event is especially exciting as it will be the second to feature our new and bigger Children's Choir, after their debut in March 2016. The choir is made up of young children from orphanages and schools in the Yangon area. We hope that, like the orchestra, the Choir will bring young people from different backgrounds together to create a mutually enriching experience, and will offer a chance to build friendships and cultural understanding.
The Orchestra for Myanmar, now at the end of its second year, brings together musicians from a number of organisations and institutions including the AOC orchestra, Gitameit Music centre, University of Arts and Culture, MIT, Ame Gita, MRTV and Kachin State. The Orchestra for Myanmar was founded by conductor and violinist Sebastian See-Schierenberg, and had its debut concert in January 2015 to a live audience of more than 2000 people and achieving a media reach of over 7 million.
This event is made possible by our patrons, the Marga Youth Foundation
