On Thursday, 22 February, the Neilson Hays Library Book Club will be discussing the works of South African born author, J.M. Coetzee. Coetzee is the winner of the 2003 Nobel Prize for Literature and he was the first person to win two Booker Prizes for Fiction for Life & Times of Michael K (1983) and Disgrace (1999).
For a biography and critical perspective of his works, check out the British Council article on Coetzee.
The Critic’s Notebook article in The New York Times includes some of the early photographs that Coetzee took while growing up in South Africa, which were exhibited at the Irma Stern Museum in Cape Town.
Please ask the librarian for our collection of J.M. Coetzee books to check out.
