Loy Krathong festival, known as the lights festival, will take place on Friday, 3 November 2017. This festival is one of the most celebrated traditional Thai festivals. It is dedicated to the Goddess of Water or Phra Mae Khongkha in Thai.
According to Thai belief, this festival is a special occasion for people to pay respect and gratitude to the Goddess of Water. Many Thais believe that when they float a Krathong, which is a floating vessel, it is akin to symbolically release misfortune including illness and negative feelings from one’s self.
On this special occasion, The Peninsula Bangkok has arranged activities and dining experiences on Friday, 3 November, to ensure that you and your family will have a Loy Krathong memory that is enriched by tradition, grace, delectable cuisine and entertainment. The Miss Noppamas beauty contest will be part of the evening activities, allowing you to cast your vote for your favourite. At night, you will be encouraged to float a Krathong and make a wish to welcome the forthcoming good fortune. We have brought together all of these exciting activites to make the Loy Krathong celebration the highlight of your Thailand trip this year.
This festival is a good example of a well-preserved local tradition and is recommended for international visitors, as you will be able to not only observe but also experience the traditions and celebrations.
With only a limited number of seats available and given its popularity with the locals, we would recommend that you make advance reservations.
