Low Fat Art Fest is pleased to present you “Antigone / Border-line”, a quality play by Japanese Theatre Company shelf. Rendered through the simplicity of Japanese post-drama style, shelf brought to life a classical Greek tale Antigone, interpreted through the lens of human chaos of the modern time.

“Theatre Company shelf” is a group of actor and actress from Tokyo led by Yasuhito Yano, a director who in the past decade have been tirelessly forged the new path to the sensitivity of literature. Their works include the recent adaptation of Henrik Ibsen’s classic “Ghost”, “Hanjo / Yoroboshi” which inspired by Japan’s important writer Yukio Mishima and many more. shelf stands for bookshelf; the group stays truthful to their ambition to stay truthful to the details in the original script and the subtext that lies underneath, whether they are manuscripts, important speeches or even a constitution. The stillness of language is interwoven, respectfully rendered in the simplicity of Japanese aesthetics and compelling acting.

“Antigone / Border-line” is a proud return to Low Fat Art Fest stage for the second time after “deprived” in 2015. This year the company collaborated with talented Thai actress Sumonta Suanponrat, with designer Techit Jiropaskosol, contributing on production design.

Antigone is an ancient Greek tale of a Thebes princess standing against the oppressive power, insisting that her beloved brother’s body to be cremated with his well-deserved honor. Although the company pay vigorous attention to various versions of translated scripts to the point that the team travelled to research Thailand on Matanee Rattanin’s version of Antigone performed in 1975 and historical context surrounding it, much of the well-known storyline is blurred and the discourse between reasoning and emotion is heighten, suggestively.

Low Fat Art Fest ภูมิใจนำเสนอ Antigone / Border-line ผลงานละครเวทีคุณภาพจากญี่ปุ่น โดย Theatre Company shelf ละครเวทีที่เน้นความเข้มข้นในเนื้อหา ที่ถ่ายทอดผ่านรูปแบบเรียบง่ายตามสไตล์ศิลปะญี่ปุ่น นำเอาตำนาน แอนธิโกเน ละครเวทีดั้งเดิมจากกรีกโบราณ มาดัดแปลงผนวกเข้าสู่การตีความบนบริบทอันสับสนของสังคมปัจจุบัน ผ่านการนำเสนอแบบ post-drama

Theatre Company shelf เป็นทีมนักแสดงจากโตเกียว ประเทศญี่ปุ่น นำโดย ยาโน ยาสุฮิโตะ ผู้กำกับที่มุ่งสร้างผลงานละครคุณภาพจากงานวรรณกรรมมากมายมาแล้วกว่าสิบปี ไม่ว่าจะเป็นผลงานคลาสสิกอย่าง Ghost โดย Henrik Ibsen หรือ Hanjo /Yoroboshi ดัดแปลงจากผลงานของ Yukio Mishima นักเขียนคนสำคัญแห่งประวัติศาสตร์ญี่ปุ่น ชื่อของกลุ่มว่า Shelf นั้นคือชั้นหนังสือ หัวใจของการทำงานที่ให้ความสำคัญอย่างมากกับวัตถุดิบที่เป็นตัวอักษร ไม่ว่าจะเป็นตัวบทดั้งเดิม ที่ต้องศึกษาอย่างหนักถึงความแตกต่างกันในการแปลแต่ละครั้ง ถูกถ่ายทอดอย่างตรงไปตรงมาอย่างให้เกียรติต้นฉบับ สุนทรพจน์ของบุคคลสำคัญ ไปจนถึงรัฐธรรมนูญ นำมาร้อยเรียงกันเป็นละครเวทีที่เรียบง่ายสไตล์ศิลปะญี่ปุ่น แต่มากด้วยชั้นเชิง ผ่านการแสดงของทีมนักแสดงคุณภาพ

Antigone / Border-line คือการกลับมาสู่ Low Fat Art Fest เป็นครั้งที่สองของ Shelf หลังจากที่ได้วาดลวดลายไว้ในการแสดงชุด deprived เมื่อปี 2558 ในครั้งนี้ shelf ร่วมสร้างสรรค์ผลงานกับนักแสดงหญิงมากความสามารถ สุมณฑา สวนผลรัตน์ ร่วมกับนักออกแบบ เตชิต จิโรภาสโกศล ช่วยสร้างสรรค์ผลงาน production design

เรื่องราวของ แอนธิโกเน่ องค์หญิงแห่งเมืองธีบีส ที่ยืนกรานต่อสู้กับอำนาจทั้งปวง เพื่อให้ศพของพี่ชายอันเป็นที่รักได้รับการเผาชำระอย่างสมเกียรติ แม้กลุ่ม shelf จะให้ความสำคัญกับบทแปลทั้งไทย ญี่ปุ่น และอังกฤษเป็นอย่างมากถึงขั้นที่จะต้องเดินทางมาศึกษาผลงานแปลและตีความ “อันตราคนี” โดยมัทนี รัตนิน ที่แสดงเมื่อปี พ.ศ. 2518 อย่างละเอียดที่ประเทศไทยสำหรับการแสดงนี้ แต่หัวใจหลักของ Antigone / Border-line นั้นเน้นนำผู้ชมเข้าสู่การถกเถียงระหว่างความถูกต้องและความรู้สึก ที่คงอยู่เสมอในทุกยุคสมัย
