Sergio Verdinelli (n. Buenos Aires , December 12, 1976) is a musician, drummer and teacher Argentine , oriented jazz and rock, which played in the bands of Fito Paez , Illya Kuryaki and the Valderramas and Luis Alberto Spinetta . 1
He was born on December 12, 1975 and began his drumming studies at age 10. In his adolescence he had Pepi Taveira as his teacher and later he trained in harmony and composition with Ernesto Jodos , Mono Fontana and Enrique Norris , among others. Throughout his career he has participated in very varied musical projects, including rock, jazz and Argentine folklore.
Since 2002 he leads his own musical project accompanied by various musicians among which are Ernesto Jodos, Patricio Carposi, Mariano Otero, Juan Pablo Arredondo and Rodrigo Domínguez. It has recorded two discs: Primo (Buri, 2005) and Sicomoro (Buri, 2009).
From 2004 onwards he was a member of the Luis Alberto Spinetta group. He accompanied Fito Páez for 3 years and was part of the Illia Kuryaki between 1991 to 1995 and 1997 to 2000. He currently works on different projects with Pepi Taveira, Rodrigo Dominguez, Juan Cruz de Urquiza , Ernesto Jodos , Mariano Otero, Luis Natch , Hernán Merlo , Ramiro Flores, Hernán Jacinto, Diego Urbano, Patricio Carpossi and Richard Nant among others. In the last edition of the Buenos Aires Jazz Festival, in December 2009, he accompanied the outstanding guitarist Steve Cárdenas. He also participated in various musical projects with musicians such as Emmanuel Horvilleur , Dante Spinetta ,Guillermo Klein , Enrique Norris , Juan Carlos Baglietto , Marcelo Outfraind, Hernán Jacinto, Mariana Baraj. It was part of the last work of the double bassist Hernán Merlo "Consin", edited by the prestigious Spanish label Fresh Sound.
As a teacher, he has been Chair of the Jazz Technique Career since 2006 at the Conservatory of the City of Buenos Aires "Manuel de Falla". He was also part of the School of Contemporary Music of Buenos Aires. In December 2005 he received the "Clarín" Prize, chosen as "Jazz Revelation Artist". Since 2007 he has been honored with the Grestch Batteries Endorseer and since 2000 with the Istanbul cymbals.
