bkk UNZINE in partnership with SEA Junction is bringing you:
Bkk COMICS ART FESTIVAL in MAY 2022 at BACC (Bangkok Art and Cultural Centre)

The festival will jump into full swing with a two-day convention, gathering comic book creatives, publishers and scholars taking place on Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th of May, 2022, with a sensational array of events and activities in Meeting Room 501 on the 5th Floor:

Sat 14th - Day 1 - Schedule (Meeting Room 501, 5th floor):

• 11:00 to 11:20 The event kicks off with an introduction of our guest artists, speakers, and sponsors, as well as a rundown of the day’s events + future of bkk UNZINE and Petition for National Comics Day
• 11:25 to 12:30 – A Presentation on the History of Thai Comics by Nicolas Verstappen, Comics Scholar at Chulalongkorn University and author of The Art of Thai Comics (River Books, 2021).
• 12:45 to 13:40 - Presentation: Origins of American Comics by Peter Maresca, Editor/publisher at Sunday Press - A look at the first American newspaper comics (1895 to 1915) and their influence on the development of modern comics around the world.
• 13:45 to 14:00 - Presentation: Slowork Publishing unveils their documentary comic book project, made in collaboration with South-East Asian comic artists. (http://www.sloworkpublishing.com/en/about.php)
• 14:05 to 14:20 - Presentation of Kai3 publisher
• 14:25 to 15:25 – A roundtable discussion with South-East Asian publishers and artists on the state of the industry.
• 15:45 to 16:45 – Workshop: How to Make a Comic page by award-winning Thai artist Art Jeeno. (https://www.facebook.com/Artjeeno.page)
• 17:00 to 18:00 - Comics GAME: Artists create a comic page live! A live activity in which each panel of a comic book page is drawn by a different artist, resulting in a mind-bending finished product.

Sun 15th - Day 2 – Freeform Interaction: Attendees are invited to talk and interact with artists at their booths (Hall, 5th Floor)
