General Information & Rules
● Active participants should not be older than 39 years of age on 1 January 2017
● The number of active participants admitted to the first stage of the competition (Round II) will be limited to a maximum of 10, and will be announced on 19 December 2016. Maestro Douglas Bostock and Mr. Damrih Banawitayakit may draw up a reserve list of participants.
● The winner will attend the WMC Intercontinental Conducting Masterclass with Maestro Douglas Bostock in collaboration with Maestro Yasuhide Ito at Senzoku Gakuen College of Music, Japan during 1-5 March 2017. Travel and accommodation costs for the winner will be paid by Feroci Philharmonic Society.

● The Masterclass will provide an extensive range of conducting opportunities and generous podium time for conductors to work with the ensembles and orchestra under expert guidance and tutelage of Maestro Douglas Bostock.

● The official language of the Masterclass is English. In certain circumstances translations into Thai may be available.

Application
The deadline for submission of the application form is 15 December 2016 at the e-mail address: ferociphilharmonicsociety@gmail.com
Together with the application form the following documents must be attached:
a. Identity card / passport scanned or photocopied
b. A short biography in English containing information about musical education and activity, conducting experience to date, and a list of main repertiore conducted.
c. Demo video (DVD or YouTube link / .avi sent by email 10-20 minutes)
d. Proof of payment of the application fee

Application Fee
The application fee of 2,500 THB for applicants of Thai nationality, and 65 Euros for foreigners must be paid before 15 December 2016 to the following account:

The competition fee for the admitted participants to Round II of the competition (10 competitors) is 9,500 THB for Thai nationals and 250 Euros for foreigners, and it must be paid before 31 December 2016.

Competition Procedures and Repertoire

Round I (Demo video) 19 December 2016
10 participants will be admitted to Round II of the competition.

Round II 3-4 February 2017 (morning and afternoon)
Each candidate selected for Round II will attend the Masterclass with Maestro Douglas Bostock and receive podium time of ca. 50 minutes with the resident ensemble.

Gustav Holst: Suite No.1 in Eb Op. 28 No. 1 (Edited by Yasuhide Ito/ Ito Music - avialable from Brian Bravo Music)
Antonin Dvorak: Serenade in D Minor op. 44
Stravinsky: Octet

Round III 5 February 2017 (morning)
6 participants will be admitted to Round III of the competition.
The candidates selected for Round III will conduct for ca. 25 minutes, working with Maestro Bostock and the resident ensemble
Repertoire :
Antonin Dvorak: Serenade in D minor Op. 44

Round IV 5 February 2017 (evening – open to the public)
3 participants will be admitted to Round IV (Final Round). These 3 candidates will conduct Philip Sparke's Jubilee Overture (Set Piece) without rehearsal. The Chosen Piece, however, will be conducted in a rehearsal / play-through (performance) situation. The audience can see / hear the conductors rehearse and perform.
Round IV will be open to the public will and take place at Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Anthropology Centre at 7 p.m.
The prizes (1st, 2nd and 3rd) will be announced by the jury immediately at the end of Round IV, and diplomas will be awarded to all Masterclass participants (from Round II).

Repertoire Round IV:
Philip Sparke: Jubilee Overture (Set Piece)
and the competitors’ choice from:
David Maslanka: Give Us This Day
Toshio Mashima: Three Notes of Japan
Competitors are, however, required to prepare both compositions.

Prize
The winner will be fully sponsored to attend the WMC Intercontinental Conducting Master Class with Maestro Douglas Bostock, in collaboration with Maestro Yasuhide Ito at Senzoku Gakuen College, Japan 1-5 March 2017. Travel and accommodation costs for the winner will be paid by Feroci Philharmonic Society.

All participants in Round II are required to attend Round IV.

An unlimited number of passive participants (auditors) may attend Rounds II, III and IV.

Participants are required to provide their own scores in the correct editions.
