หอภาพยนตร์ (องค์การมหาชน) ร่วมกับ สถาบันเกอเธ่ ประเทศไทย ขอเชิญทุกท่านเข้าร่วมชมภาพยนตร์สุดโรแมนติค (แบบหม่นๆ) เรื่องดัง DER HIMMEL ÜBER BERLIN (ฟ้าเหนือเบอร์ลิน) หรือชื่อภาษาอังกฤษ WINGS OF DESIRE (ปีกปรารถนา) ในรูปแบบกลางแปลง ณ กลางมหานครกรุงเทพ อาคารบันเทิง สวนลุมพินี ในวันพฤหัสบดีที่ 25 กุมภาพันธ์ ศกนี้ เวลา 18.30 น. โดยไม่เสียค่าใช้จ่ายแต่อย่างไร

DER HIMMEL ÜBER BERLIN หรือ WINGS OF DESIRE เป็นผลงานภาพยนตร์เยอรมันเรื่องแรกของวิม เวนเดอร์ส หลังจากที่เขาไปทำงานที่อเมริกาได้แปดปี

ตัวละครสำคัญคือเทพสององค์ในเสื้อคลุมล่องหน ไม่มีมนุษย์คนใดได้เห็นตัวตน เทพทั้งสองรับรู้ความทุกข์ในใจของมนุษย์และคอยปลอบโยนพวกเขา เทพองค์หนึ่งคือ ดาเมียล (แสดงโดย บรูโน กั๊นซ์) ผู้มีความปรารถนาอย่างเหลือเกินที่จะได้มีตัวตนเป็นมนุษย์ เพราะท่านเกิดมาตกหลุมรักสาวสวยนักกายกรรม มาเรียน (แสดงโดย ซอลไวก์ ดอมมาร์ติน) อย่างถอนตัวไม่ขึ้น โดยมี ปีเตอร์ ฟอล์ค (ซึ่งรับบทเป็นตัวเอง) ให้ความช่วยเหลือในการแปลงร่างเป็นมนุษย์และให้พรชีวิตใหม่กับดาเมียล

ในช่วงต้น ภาพยนตร์เดินเรื่องจากมุมมองของเทพ ผู้มองโลกเป็นสีขาวดำ ต่อมาเมื่อดาเมียลกลายร่างเป็นมนุษย์ โลกจึงกลายเป็นมีสีสันให้เห็นขึ้นมา โดยดาเมียลได้ทิ้ง เทำกาสเซียล (แสดงโดย อ็อตโต ซานเดอร์) เพื่อนคู่หูไว้กับโฮเมอร์ (แสดงโดย เคิร์ด บัวส์) ผู้ซึ่งถือเป็น “กวีนักเล่าเรื่องมนุษยชาติ”

ทั่วโลกต่างยกย่องหนังเรื่องนี้ให้อยู่ในประเภท “หนังขึ้นหิ้ง” ต่อมาในปีค.ศ. 1998 (พ.ศ. 2541) ฮอลลีวู้ดได้นำพล็อตเรื่องนี้ไปสร้างใหม่ ภายใต้ชื่อ CITY OF ANGELS นำแสดงโดย นิโคลาส เคจ คู่กับ เม็ก ไรอัน

มาคราวนี้ เป็นโอกาสดีที่ชาวกรุงเทพ จะได้มีโอกาสสัมผัสมนต์ของหนังเรื่องนี้ในลักษณะหนังกลางแปลง ณ ใจกลางมหานครกรุงเทพ

Fim Archive (Public OrganizatIon) collaborated with Goethe-Institute Thailand is organizing the outdoor screening of the world class romantic film, DER HIMMEL ÜBER BERLIN or WINGS OF DESIRE, at the centre of the city of Bangkok, Lumpini Park (Bungtueng area) on Thursday 25 February 2016 at 18.30 p.m.

WINGS OF DESIRE marked Wenders’s “homecoming” and was his first German film after eight years in America.

The main characters are guardian angels—benevolent, invisible beings in trench coats—who listen to the thoughts of mortals and attempt to comfort them. One of them, Damiel (Bruno Ganz), wishes to become human after he falls in love with the beautiful trapeze artist Marion (Solveig Dommartin). Peter Falk, played by himself, helps him during his transformation, by introducing him to life’s little pleasures.

The film is narrated from the perspective of the angels, who see the world in black and white. Only when Damiel becomes human does the world of color reveal itself to him. He leaves behind his old friend Cassiel (Otto Sander), who continues to be accompanied by Homer (Curt Bois), the “storyteller of humanity.”

The film has achieved cult status all around the world; in 1998, it was remade under the title CITY OF ANGELS, which features Nicolas Cage and Meg Ryan in the lead roles.

This is the good opportunity for the people of Bangkok (Krungthep - City of Angle) to experience the film's magic in the outdoor screening at the heart of the city.
