HAVE YOU HEARD? are back once again with news that is sure to catch any music enthusiast bouncing on their feet! Get your dancing groove on as we announce our latest musical installment, coming from Montreal of Canada, the electronic art-rock group: SUUNS. Their contemporary aesthetic is not only
synonymous to their mesmerizing bass or lightshow spectacular but also for their ability to entertain us with beats and melodies so hypnotizing that you’ll be longing for more!
The progression of their musical style has changed and evolved gradually throughout the years, evident from their earliest instrumental work all the way up to their latest musical showing. It’s safe to say that, throughout the years, the North-American collective have found a sound they can consider their own. Their ability to mix and match different instruments and overlay them with electronic beats make their music both innovative and atypical. Like in ‘Zeroes QC’, considered a punk-rock anthem but layered in between sounds from a guitar and a synth bass and topped off with a mysterious hip-hop beat. Or like in ‘Images du Futur’, a rollercoaster of melodies, layered in between tunes so complex that it leaves you scratching at the cranium. To mention a few, their album ‘Hold/Still’, can make us feel like we’re floating with them in zero-gravity, coasting through an intense and gloomy adventure in outer space.
In 2018, SUUNS have decided to start the year early by releasing their fourth studio album ‘Felt’. The musical overtones are vivid and absorbing with a colorful upbeat nature, incomparable to anything they’ve done before. It makes us fall right back in love with their strange yet enticing sound. All the instruments used in the album feel like they actually belong together and with the melody of the songs. They often remind us of the underground electronic music scene coming from the 90’s. Remember the baggy stripped jeans? They were known for experimenting with guitar and drum beats from the psychedelic era of the 60’s and using that to curate a special sound of their own.
For those of you who want to learn more about the band, we would like to recommend the songs … Gaze, 2020, Translate and Watch You, Watch Me. While you do your homework, we would also suggest you get your dancing shoes waxed in time to see them live on the 20th of June at the Rockademy!
